Philip Murphy
Director of Advancement
Philip Murphy serves as Director of Advancement for Arihanta Institute. In this role he creates and leads initiatives aimed at securing the philanthropic resources that will ensure the organization’s unqualified success, in endeavoring to democratize Jain studies worldwide.

An experienced nonprofit institutional advancement professional, Philip has served in leadership roles at leading global universities including the University of California, Los Angeles, the University of Southern California, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he served as campaign director for the MIT Campaign for Students, which exceeded by fifteen percent its $500M fundraising goal.

Philip is a longtime practitioner of Theravada Buddhism, and has served as a director at the Cambridge Insight Mediation Center, the Insight Meditation Center of the Pioneer Valley (Easthampton, MA USA), and the New York Insight Meditation Center. He is grateful for the opportunity, through his engagement at the Arihanta Institute, to deepen his understanding and practice of pan-dharmic philosophies including the extraordinarily rich Jain conception of ahimsa.

Philip currently serves as a volunteer advisor to nonprofit organizations Inward Bound Mindfulness Education, and the American Vegan Society.
