Introduction to Jain Yoga

Length: 20 hours Self-Study (Professor available by appointment in office hours)

This course will unpack the ancient and venerable textual tradition of Jain yoga. We will explore the theory behind the psychology and contemplative states of Jain yoga. We will study the vocabulary and conceptual frameworks of the Jain yoga tradition and take time to reflect on and incorporate the principles of Jain yoga into daily life. Through studying the major thinkers in the textual tradition of Jain yoga, this course reveals the unique perspective of Jain yoga and how this ancient practice remains as relevant today as it has in antiquity.
